FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
FORMER HUSKER DU DRUMMER GRANT HART TO SHOW
RECENT VISUAL WORK AND PERFORM AT ZONE GALLERY IN
KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
KANSAS CITY, MO. -- Grant Hart, who was one of
the two song-writing forces of legendary
Minneapolis, Minnesota 1980's rockers Husker Du,
will show 20 pieces of his recent assemblage at
Zone Gallery 415 E. 18th St. Kansas City, Missouri
on First Friday, March 2, 2007. The show, entitled
GRANT HART: 20 MASTERPIECES OF MODERN ART includes
both recent and older collage work with
history-specific title appropriation authentic to
the early days of the American Punk Rock movement,
but not unlike specific Dada influences of the past
century. He will also perform a rare solo set
towards the close of the viewing.
Grant Hart was a ripe 17 years old in 1979 when
he founded Husker Du along with Bob Mould and Greg
Norton. The band went on to earn cult status
follwed by major label stardom and to this day
enjoys genuine respect among rock music historians
worldwide. What is less known, however, is that
Grant Hart, under a psuedonym, designed all the
band's award-winning visual art.
Opening for Grant Hart will be Minneapolis
piedmont guitar impresario/roots singer Baby Grant
Johnson. Admission for the opening is free. A small
donation will be asked for the music
perfomances.
